The Upjohn pharmaceutical company was started by William Erastus Upjohn in 1885 and was a research and industry pillar in Kalamazoo until its merger with the Swedish company Pharmacia in 1995.  The hybrid company was bought by Pfizer in 2003.  Click on thumbnails below for views of the glory days of Upjohn in the late 1950s
