| Didn't the sleepwalking bear make you feel good about the good old TraveLodge motel chain in the 60s? The Kalamazoo TraveLodge boasted 60 units, Simmons Beauty Rest mattresses, Air Conditioning, and a bar and luncheonette. "Sleepy" the bear wandered away sometime in the 70s, and this motel lived on as a Best Western, but having shed some of its innocence. In the 80s they actually stocked "First Date" brand soap in their rooms. The motel later became the University Inn, then a Knight's Inn. I miss "Sleepy." | ![]() |
