Just south of Kalamazoo, the Studio Lounge was a friendly place where it felt as if you had gone back in time.  The decor was frozen in the early 70's, regulars watched baseball games from the suspended T.V., waitresses called you "hon," and the jukebox was packed with Johnny Cash and Bob Seger songs.  But the city of Portage was looking to cultivate a more modern image that the Studio did not fit. In 2000 Portage bought the building from the owners and promptly razed this beautiful piece of history.  Today the property houses a national restaurant chain.
